Who is
The Sable Flaneur?

Hi, I am Grey Jones, a 14 year resident of New York City. I have been licensed as a NYC sightseeing guide since 2015.
Having conducted and created numerous Black Historical tours focused on Colonial and 19th Century narratives of resilience and resistance throughout the five boroughs of New York City, I have a deep passion for the history of the diverse tapestry of people who have come to create and define what is regarded as the greatest city in the world.
Currently, I am founder and coordinator of Uhuru Days, a Prospect Park exhibit and 17 day holiday season highlighting the freedoms denied enslaved Africans between the dates of Juneteenth and July 5th (New York State's Abolition Day [1827]).
I am very eager to learn about you and share my knowledge of history about the region with you. Originally a native of Lafayette, LA., I was raised in the Dallas area of North Texas. I am an avid community volunteer, volunteering for my church choir, The Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College, the Wikimedia Foundation, and many other organizations and groups. Feel free to visit my Instagram page (@jonesgrey) to see the many portraits of floral blooms captured in parks and elsewhere.
